HANOI ONE DAY MOTORBIKE TOURS TO BA VI NATIONAL PARK

Located in the Ba Vi mountain range in Luong Son, Ky Son (Hoa Binh province), and Ba Vi districts (Hanoi city), the park is about 60 kilometers northwest of Hanoi center. It belongs to the Northeast-Southwest mountain range with three peaks – Vua, Tan Vien, and Ngoc Hoa. Our trip begins at 8:30, and we need to ride for one and a half hours.

Hanoi to Ba Vi National Park-1

Since the early 20th century, Ba Vi has become famous for its diverse ecosystem and breathtaking landscapes. Ba Vi National Park possesses more than 1200 plant species and hundreds of animal species, including many rare and endangered ones. Basically, this is where you can admire Vietnam’s incredible nature.

Another reason is that Ba Vi National Park is full of significant historical and cultural values. Vietnamese people believe that this is where Son Tinh (the Mountain God) appeared. Here you can find out more about the culture of Van Lang – an ancient kingdom ruled by the legendary Hung Kings. The site marks the fierce battle in the resistance against the French army.

Ba Vi National Park includes so many attractions with distinctive allure ranging from natural landscapes to impressive structures. In case you don’t know, well-known attractions such as Khoang Xanh, Thac Nga, or Ao Vua are all located in this area. If you are tired of the bustle and hustle of Hanoi city but don’t have enough time for a more extended trip, then spending a whole day exploring Ba Vi is an excellent choice.

What to visit in Ba Vi National Park

Thuong Temple

Located on the Ba Vi Mountain at an altitude of 1227 meters, Thuong Temple is where people worship Tan Vien Saint. The material used to build the temple was brought from Da River, and this required a huge human resource. This ancient construction has been restored several times to preserve its core values. Although the temple is not really large, its beauty and religious meaning are undeniable.

The French Church

In Ba Vi National Park, there are still many old yet majestic structures. With incredible architecture, the French Church stands out among the buildings in the area. To reach the church, we need to ride upward to 800 meters and overcome plenty of slopes and sharp curves. In autumn, when the trees surrounding the construction turn yellow, the scenery resembles a talented painter’s masterpiece. The villa of the French colonel is an excellent spot for photographers as well.

Hanoi to Ba Vi National Park-3

Wild Sunflower Forest

The most famous flower in Ba Vi National Park is the wild sunflower (Da Quy flower). A fun fact is that this flower was brought here from France in the 30s of the last century. The blooming season of wild sunflowers is between November and December. The flower is associated with a touching legend about a couple. Its beauty represents a strong vitality, so people love taking pictures with these flowers and posting them on social media.

Cactus Garden

From the main gate of Ba Vi National Park, you just have to go one kilometer further to get to the Cactus Garden. Actually, this cactus garden was abandoned due to the failure of a project. Coming here, you will be surprised by dozens of cactus species. But this somehow makes the site more attractive and mysterious. For those who are looking for an awe-inspiring background, this spot is going to serve well.

Ho Chi Minh President Temple

The sacred temple to worship Ho Chi Minh President is 1296 meters above sea level on the peak Ba Vi mountain range. It is said that during the lifetime of Uncle Ho, he wanted his ashes to be placed in three places with one of them at Ba Vi Mountain.

The temple has traditional architecture with eight curved roofs on four sides, erected on round pillars on the foot of a rock. The temple was built with a sustainable and majestic structure. The main hall is an open place with no doors. There is a statue of Uncle Ho cast in bronze in a sitting position on the stone altar. Above the statue is a diaphragm with the famous inscription “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom”. Above is the national flag with red marble. On both sides of the altar are bronze bells.

Near Ho Chi Minh President Temple is Bao Thien Tower, which is also an imposing structure with 88 statues of different shapes and sizes.

It is advisable to buy Lam Rice right at the entrance of the park. This is rice cooked in bamboo tubes, and they are super convenient to bring. In Ba Vi National Park, besides Lam Rice, you should try chicken and boar meat as well. The meat is tender and sweet, which is perfect for eating with rice. Dairy products in Ba Vi are also highly recommended.
