Departing from Hanoi, our 10-day motorbike tour from Hanoi to Nha Trang will take you to the mountains of Northern Vietnam via Mai Chau before heading to Nha Trang on the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail. Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau (180 km)

Start your 10-day Ho Chi Minh Trail Motorbike Tour with a fantastic ride to Mai Chau – a beautiful valley filled with immense rice fields and stunning stilt houses. Ride on the dyke paths to get out of Hanoi and then, embark on mountain roads heading to Mai Chau. Feast your eyes on the incredible scenery in the northern mountainous region of Vietnam and do not forget to take lovely photos to keep memories.

After lunch, we follow small paths leading to the mountains surrounding the Mai Chau valley in order to get closer to the peaceful villages of ethnic minorities. You can even pay a visit to a local family to chat and learn about their lifestyle. The first day of our trip ends with a hearty dinner and a good night’s sleep at a stilt house of Thai people in Mai Chau.

Hanoi to Mai Chau

Day 2: Mai Chau - Tan Ky (290 km)

We will have an early start as it is a long trip today. From Mai Chau, we head south on a small, rugged path that follows the banks of Ma River. Keep riding until we reach the town of Cam Thuy, where lunch is served at a roadside restaurant.

In the afternoon, our motorbike team set off for Tan Ky on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Known to be part of the legendary trail, this route has now been built into a highway, making it quite easy to conquer. On the way, we can spend some time taking pictures of Vietnam’s picturesque landscape and chatting with hospitable locals. After reaching Tan Ky, we have dinner and overnight at a local hotel.

Day 3: Tan Ky - Phong Nha Ke Bang (280 km)

Today’s destination is Phong Nha Ke Bang, the paradise of the most beautiful and magnificent underground caves in the world. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park appeals to visitors for the majestic limestone mountains that were formed more than 400 million years ago. It is also home to Son Doong – the largest cave in the world. A trip to Son Doong is not a joke at all that requires both effort and money. Today, it is an ideal destination for keen adventurers who are craving a completely different experience in life.

After long hours of riding on winding roads, it is time to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Phong Nha Ke Bang before heading to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Tan Ky - Phong Nha Ke Bang

Day 4: Phong Nha Ke Bang - Dong Hoi (60 km)

There are tons of exciting activities available in Phong Nha Ke Bang so today, we still have some time to explore this park before heading to Dong Hoi. One of the must-try experiences here is to take a boat trip that lets you get closer to the beautiful natural scenery and magnificent caves. With a length of nearly 8,000 m, Phong Nha is known as one of the longest and most beautiful caves in the world. A boat trip to admire the impressive beauty of the stalactite system sparkling in professionally designed colorful LEDs will be an unforgettable experience in your life.

In the afternoon, our crew rides on the beautiful roads down to Dong Hoi – a peaceful coastal town that had been seriously devastated during the war. Check-in at the hotel, then you can relax in the room or enjoy sunbathing on the beach. Immerse in the pristine natural scenery and refresh yourself to regain energy for the next trip.

Day 5: Dong Hoi - Khe Sanh (200 km)

The 5th day of our tour starts with a ride to Khe Sanh, where one of the bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War took place. Today, we will see the real Ho Chi Minh Trail, which stands out with the magnificent natural scenery on both sides. Ride through the foothills that have been heavily damaged by Agent Orange, and you can somehow feel the heroic history of the Vietnamese nation.

Keep heading to Vinh Moc Tunnel, Hien Luong Bridge, and Truong Son Cemetery to reach Khe Sanh in the late afternoon. Along the way, you can make some stops to relax and take a look at the historic sites of the war. Dinner and overnight at the local hotel in Khe Sanh.

Dong Hoi - Khe Sanh

Day 6: Khe Sanh - Hue (180 km)

Continue to embark on the Ho Chi Minh Trail to reach Hue – the most peaceful ancient city in Central Vietnam that has enough charm to keep you staying for several days. This route offers you a great opportunity to explore some famous historical sites during the Vietnam War, such as Da Krong Bridge, A Shau Valley, etc.

Cross Hamburger Hill and ride on winding roads to A Luoi which is home to Bru Van people. Admire the breathtaking scenery along the way and continue to head to the beautiful city of Hue. After a long day of riding, relax at a local hotel to regain energy for the next challenge.

Khe Sanh - Hue

Day 7: Hue - Hoi An (150 km)

After breakfast, we will spend the whole morning today exploring Hue city before making our way to Hoi An. Hue Citadel will be our first destination, but instead of riding a motorbike, we will come here by car. Located on the north side of Huong River, it is a massive palace complex consisting of 4 citadels: Hoang Thanh, Tu Cam Thanh, Dai Noi, and Tran Binh Dai. If time permits, you can also visit some famous nearby places like Khai Dinh tomb, Thien Mu pagoda, etc.

Enjoy lunch with local specialties and then conquer Hai Van Pass, one of the largest passes in Vietnam to reach Hoi An. Overnight in this ancient town.

Hue to Hoi An

Day 8: Touring around Hoi An

There are tons of interesting things in this beautiful old town so it would be a big mistake if we didn’t take the time to explore Hoi An.

Due to its favorable geographical location, Hoi An was once known as a famous trading port of Vietnam in the 15th to 19th centuries. Coming here, visitors will definitely be fascinated by the ancient beauty of traditional buildings, weathered temples, and unique structures that have been well preserved over time. Do not forget to bring your camera to capture wonderful pictures as you cross the stunning Japanese Bridge or walk or wander the narrow streets of the Old Town.

In the afternoon, we ride to Cua Dai beach, just 6 km from the town. Immerse in the blue sea, white sand, and yellow sunshine to refresh yourself and ready for the next trip.

Day 9: Hoi An - Quy Nhon (170 km)

Boasting amazing coastal roads, it could be one of the most marvelous rides in the whole journey. From Hoi An, we ride on National Highway 1 and carry on along the wonderful coastline to Quy Nhon – real heaven for beach lovers. Compared to the previous days, today’s ride is much smoother.

After arriving in Quy Nhon, our motorbike team check-in to the beachfront hotel, admire the stunning landscape and feel the salinity of the sea before having dinner and enjoying a good night’s sleep here.

  1. Deposits and Payment Policy
  • We require a deposit of 30% of the total upon confirmation of booking the tour. The remaining balance will be paid 45 days before departure. Your booking may be considered canceled if the full balance is not received by Vietnam Motorbike Tours Club by that time.
  • You can choose the payment method by money transfer or credit card payment with all bank transfer charges/ fees to be paid by you. 
  • After receiving your payment, we will issue you the final confirmation of the detailed itinerary and services via e-mail.
  1. Cancellation and Refunds
  • Vietnam Motorbike Tours Club takes no responsibility for any flight delays or scheduled changes at any stage throughout the trip. 
  • We have the discretion to change the itinerary or delay the tour due to weather, local conditions, politics, or various other reasons with our notification in advance.
  • During the tour, should you be found to break any of the rules without the prior exception from the tour leader, we have the discretion to cancel the tour with no refunds applied. 
  • During the tour, should your bike have minor technical problems, our guide/mechanic will attempt to fix it as quickly as possible. In the event that the bike can not be fixed within the day, we will endeavor to substitute a bike of a similar type to ensure your trip is not interrupted.
  • Should you have to cancel the tour due to special reasons, you may transfer your booking to another person. However, you will be liable for your nominee paying their monies in full.
